Senior Afghan Officials Accused Of Electoral Fraud
The Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (IEC) said Tuesday that a number of senior government officials were involved in electoral fraud in the first round of election.
IEC officials said the list of senior government officials involved in electoral fraud has been sent to the President Palace.
The officials urged the government of Afghanistan to dismiss the officials involved in electoral fraud.
IEC Chief, Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani said provincial governors, district chiefs, mayors and provincial secuirty chiefs were involved in electoral fraud in the first round of election.
Nuristani said the names of the senior officials will be dislosed if no actions were taken against them by the Presidential Palaex.
This comes as President Karzai called on all government officials to remain neutral in presidential and provincial council elections which was organized earlier last month.
A number of candidates and the international oragnizations also accused senior government officials and election workers for electoral fraud.
In the meantime, Nuristani said over five thousand of IEC workers were dismissed over electoral fraud and a number of them were introduced to judiciary institutions.
