Senior Afghan militant commander killed in Pakistan
A senior Afghan militant commander was killed following military operation by Pakistani forces in North Waziristan tribal region.
The Pakistani Taliban group, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has said that the Afghan militant commander was among the high ranking TTP commanders.
A statement released by the Pakistani Taliban group said a senior commander of the militant group, Mohammad Hassan, was killed during clashes with the Pakistan Army.
TTP spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, was quoted in the statement as saying Hassan had “joined his friends” in the TTP after being released from Afghanistan.
Shahid added further that the Pakistani armed forces also suffered heavy casualties following clashes with the Taliban fighters.
The TTP also dismissed the Pakistan Army’s claims of capturing terrorists that attacked Malala Yousafzai in Swat earlier in October in 2012.
“Those who have been arrested on the allegations that they attacked Malala, TTP doesn’t know any of them as their member,” the statement said, adding that “All the leaders of Pakistani Taliban are safe and functional and are targeting important installations of Pakistan Army.” (Khaama Press)
