Ministers barred from exercising executive powers
A presidential decree issued on Wednesday directed all incumbent ministers and provincial governors to perform duties as acting officials, barring them from exercising executive powers.
President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai also ordered the ministers, governors and heads of independent departments to perform in acting capacity until the new Cabinet was introduced.
Ahmadzai was sworn-in as new president on Tuesday at a well organised ceremony attended by national and international leaders.
Via previous decrees, Ahmadzai appointed Mohammad Hanif Atmar as his national security advisor, Abdul Salam Rhimi as Presidential Palace chief of staff and Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal as economic advisor.
