Karzai Vehemently Condemns Attack on Tokhi
KABUL (PAN): Condemning the suicide attack on MP Hamidullah Tokhi, President Hamid Karzai said posing as a guest and then carrying out a suicide attack was against the established norms and tradition of Afghanistan. A statement issued by the presidential palace said Saturday that a suicide bomber on Friday forced his way by posing himself as guest into the house of Hamidullah Tokhi, Zabul representative at the Lower House, in Kart-i-Parwan area.
The bomber detonated his explosives placed in his hat which resulted in the injuries to Tokhi, his guard and three other guests. Dubbing the attack as a coward, terrorist and against Islamic values, Karzai prayed for swift recovery of the wounded persons. Hashmatullah Stanikzai, Kabul police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Tokhi was being treated at the hospital of National Directorate of Security (NDS) who was in stable condition.
Tokhi sustained injuries close to his right eye, he added. No one claimed responsibility for the attack. Two years back, a suicide bomber posing himself as a Taliban peace messenger from Quetta approached Burhanuddin Rabani, the High Peace Council (HPC) head, and detonated his explosives hidden under his turban resulting in the killing of former HPC head.
