Edin Dzeko drops Manchester City exit hint with Bundesliga revelation
Edin Dzeko has opened the door to a summer switch away from Manchester City after admitting he wants a return to the Bundesliga.
The striker, who was a £27million arrival from Wolfsburg in January 2011, has found himself unable to hold down a regular place in Roberto Mancini’s side this season, despite being City’s top league scorer with 12 goals.
Now, with Mancini expected to further strengthen his attacking line-up this summer with a big-name signing, Dzeko admits a move back to Germany would be appealing.
‘I love the Bundesliga and I will return to the Bundesliga. The only thing I don’t know is when,’ said the Bosnia international.
Reports have suggested Dzeko held talks with Borussia Dortmund, who look set to lose star striker Robert Lewandowski at the end of the season to either Bayern Munich or Manchester United.
But Dzeko said: ‘That’s not true. There is a lot of talk and a lot is written. If you believed every word, I’d be playing at Bayern Munich or AC Milan by now.
‘Dortmund are a top club. Everyone in Europe can see that and with (manager) Jurgen Klopp, they have a great coach working there.’
