Dr. Ghani credential reveals he secured 55.27% of the votes

Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, the president-elect of Afghanistan received presidentials credential from the Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Friday.

IEC Chief, Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani presented the credentials to Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during a press conference.

Dr. Ghani has secured 55.27 percent of the total votes during the runoff presidential election, the credential reveals.

According to the credential, the total of the votes which were marked as valid is 7,120,585 where Dr. Ashraf Ghani has secured 3,935,567 votes.

The Independent Election Commission announced the final vote results earlier this week and declared Dr. Ashraf Ghani as president-elect.

No further details regarding the exact number of the votes secured by each candidate was disclosed during the final results announcement.

The announcement was made following an agreement between the two candidates for the formation of a national unity government. The announcement of final vote results, share of power in unity government and authority of the chief executive officer were among the main issues which were preventing the conclusion of an agreement on unity government deal.

Dr. Ashraf Ghani is expected to take office following presidential inauguration which is expected to be organized on coming Monday.
