Afghan Troops Are Ready To Maintain Second Round of Election’s Security
Afghan army forces are prepared to maintain security if the election goes to the second round. Said General Sher Mohammad Karimi, Chief of the General Staff of the Afghan Army
He was speaking during the national Security Council meeting where the Potential of the Afghan armed forces were discussed.
The meeting was held in the presence of other senior Afghan commanders and security officials.
Interior ministry of Afghanistan had earlier briefed that they have the full capacity to keep security for the election runoff.
Still it is not clear if the election goes to second round, the Independent Electoral Commission of Afghanistan (IECC) has not completed the process of counting the votes which could affect the result of the elections.
According to the preliminary results released by The Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan, none of the candidates had secured 50 plus one votes to become winner in the first round of election.
